Judo hauls 4 more bronze medals in SEA Games


Filipino judokas once again proved their mettle in the Southeast Asian Games as they added four more bronze medals to the Philippines' medal tally on Friday at the LausGroup Center in Pampanga.

Carl Aseneta beat Khamxay Vongphachanh of Laos in the men's 90kg, while Shin Matsumura won against Jian Che of Singapore men's 100kg. Both scored an ippon to defeat their opponents in the bronze medal matches.

Meanwhile, John Viron Ferrer scored a wazari to edge Hoang Duong Nguyen of Vietnam in the men's 100kg.

In the women's 78kg, Ryoko Salinas scored an ippon to get the victory against  Norizzatul Mohamad Tahir of Malaysia.

Earlier, Mariya Takahashi bagged the gold medal in the women's 70kg.
