Natalie Uy bags gold, sets new record in women's pole vault


Natalie Rose Uy clinched the gold medal in the women's pole vault at the Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

Thailand's pole vaulters matched her jump for jump until the 4.00m mark, but Chonthicha Khabut faltered when the height was raised to 4.05m. Chayanisa Chomchuendee cleared 4.10m, but could not follow up in the 4.15m.

With the gold in the bag, Uy cleared 4.20m in her 10th jump. She went for the record in her 11th jump, clearing 4.25m to break Sukanya Chomchuendee's 4.21m in 2013.
