Amit beats Centeno for 9-ball gold medal

Third time's the charm for veteran cue player Rubilen Amit.

Amit defeated compatriot Chezka Centeno, 7-3, in the finals of the women's 9-ball pool singles of the Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the Manila Hotel.

The veteran lost to Centeno the past two times they met in the 9-ball finals at the SEA Games, but this time she did not let go of the victory she last tasted in 2009.

It's another 1-2 finish for the Philippines after Centeno on Saturday bested Amit in the women's 10-ball pool singles finals.

Meanwhile, Francisco Dela Cruz clinched the bronze medal in the men's 1-cushion carom.
