Paalam powers through Indonesia for 1st PHL boxing gold

Carlo Paalam will bid farewell to his Southeast Asian Games stint with a happy heart as he bagged the Philippines' first gold in boxing on Monday at the PICC Forum.

Paalam won via unanimous decision against Indonesia's Langu Kornelis to cop the top prize in the men's light flyweight division. This is Paalam's first gold medal in his career. He won the bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In the women's side, Irish Magno finished with a silver medal after a challenging match against Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam, 4-1.
