PHL teams notch back-to-back bronzes in sepak takraw


The Philippines seized a back-to-back bronze medal finish in the men's and women's regu of the sepak takraw tournament at the Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday at the Subic Gymnasium.

Ronsited Gabayeron, Jason Huerte, Rheyjey Ortouste, and John Bobier of the men's squad shared the bronze medal with Vietnam. They finished behind Thailand and Malaysia, who bagged the gold and silver medals, respectively.

The women's team of Allysa Bandoy, Abegail Sinogbuhan, Mary Melody Taming, and Jean Marie Sucalit also shared the bronze medal with Malaysia. Thailand took the gold and Vietnam settled for the silver.

In other sports, Richard Gonzales also secured the bronze in the men's table tennis singles while Jefrey Roda snatched the bronze in men's snooker singles. The Philippine women's indoor hockey team also copped the bronze.
