Gilas Pilipinas clinches SEA Games gold with rout of Thailand

Gilas Pilipinas clinched its 13th straight gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games with a 115-81 rout of Thailand on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The All-PBA national team went undefeated in the tournament, obliterating the opposition with lopsided victories in every game.

Gilas had a nine-point lead at the half, but the team scored 40 points in the third quarter to pull away for good.

June Mar Fajardo led the team with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Christian Standhardinger had 16 markers and 11 boards.

Seven Gilas players reached double digits in scoring as Chris Ross once again distributed the ball well with eight assists to go with eight points.

The Philippines scored 24 second chance points and picked up 21 more on the fastbreak while shooting 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
