Karateka James De Los Santos climbs to no. 4 in world rankings after claiming gold in virtual kata tourney

James De Los Santos has climbed to no. 4 in the virtual kata world rankings after snagging the gold medal in the Korokotta Cup 2020 e-tournament.

The 2017 Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist put together identical 4-1 victories against Brazil, South Africa, and Bolivia en route to the finals.

He then breezed through South Africa, 5-0, to claim the gold.

"Thank you God for this opportunity and keeping me in good health," he said in a Facebook post. "Thank you family and friends for your support. Keeping the fire burning."

De Los Santos earlier held the no. 6 ranking after winning the silver medal in the SportData e-Tournament World Series in May. —MGP, GMA News
