Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang wants to test striking prowess in Muay Thai

Top mixed martial arts prospect Lito Adiwang of Baguio City’s Team Lakay is contemplating a run at ONE Super Series.

ONE Super Series offers pure kickboxing and Muay Thai fights at ONE Championship where the best strikers in the world fight each other. The promotion also allows its athletes to cross-compete between MMA and striking disciplines.

The privilege to cross-compete is exactly the reason why Adiwang wants to dip his toes in ONE Super Series. Notorious for his explosive striking, the Team Lakay prospect made waves in his divisions for his highlight-reel finishes.

“The thought has crossed my mind. That’s definitely something that I plan for the future. I love fighting and striking, and I can see myself being successful if I make that transition,” said Adiwang.

Adiwang is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak. Capable to finish a fight via knockout or submission, only one opponent has made it to the final bell thus far against Adiwang ever since he fought in Asia’s premier MMA organization.

And while ONE Super Series has crossed his mind, Adiwang stressed that his goal remains at mixed martial arts—at least for now.

“Of course, there’s a perfect time for everything, and if that time comes, I would love to compete in ONE Super Series. Right now though, I need to focus on my MMA career and prove myself in my division. I want to become an MMA world champion,” he said.

“ONE Super Series is the premier striking league in the world. The fact that ONE is signing the best of the best, legends of the striking martial arts, fans can see champion versus champion fights here.”

When the day finally comes that he is ready to make that transition, Adiwang is confident that he would be given his rightful opportunity by the organization.

“Even though ONE Super Series has a lot of champions and legends, they also give equal opportunity and chances to contenders who are fighting for their dreams and trying to climb to the top.” – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
