Antonio Caruso plans to choke Eduard Folayang at ONE: Inside the Matrix

Multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Antonio Caruso plans to secure the biggest win of his career by submitting former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.

Caruso is scheduled to lock horns with the Team Lakay superstar on the undercard of ONE: Inside the Matrix on Friday, October 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Citing Folayang’s weaknesses, Caruso stated that he will go for a choke when he meets Folayang inside the cage.

“Folayang is explosive, but no offense, he’s 36 years old now. We all know that saying that time doesn’t do us justice. I’m a young and hungry man, so come October 30, I’m going to be all over him. My explosion, I’m going to take it out on him, and you’re going to see that Friday night,” he said.

“To have the extensive information that I’ve already got on Eduard is massive. Obviously, he’s already a very experienced fighter. There’s a lot of footage on him, of how he’s fought,” Caruso added.

“He shows me his neck, I’m going to take it. That’s how I work. That’s how I operate. You give me anything, and I’m going to take it. I’m going to choke him. To beat a guy like Eduard will be massive for my career, definitely sending me one step closer to that ONE world title.”

Caruso, who holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 7-1, concedes that beating the man touted as the face of Philippine MMA won’t be a walk in the park yet he is overflowing with confidence that he would have his hand raised on fight night.

“His striking ability, his ability to be explosive and come forward, his spinning attacks. He’s got excellent leg kicks. There are a lot of good things about Eduard,” he noted.

“But at the same time, there are a lot of holes also that have been exposed many times before. These are the holes that me and my team have noticed, and we’re going to expose again.”

Having expressed his respect and adoration for Folayang and his legendary career, Caruso plans to create his own legacy that he aims to start on Friday.

“I respect Eduard because he has a massive heart that he’s shown in his whole career. But this is a whole new era, and I’m coming in to take everything he’s got,” he stressed.

“I want to become a legend just like him. I want to be spoken about as a legend just like he has. Coming October 30, I want everything he has and more and I can’t wait. I can’t wait to take it.” -- BAP, GMA News
