Eduard Folayang feels more ready for Lowen Tynanes should they fight again
Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang thinks he is now more equipped to lock horns with his old conqueror Lowen Tynanes.
The no. 5 ranked lightweight Tynanes fought Folayang in 2012 where he pulled off a major upset and scored a first-round technical knockout.
But should they lock face each other again, Folayang is convinced that his improvements throughout the years could lead him to a victory.
"I think I'm a much different fighter now compared to before. If we do meet again, I will prepare hard for him," he said.
"The hardest thing about facing Lowen is the threat of his takedowns. It's not easy to escape the ground once you're there with him, because of his control. He is very good at controlling his opponents," he added.
Tynanes, 30, has been off the cage since he defeated former ONE featherweight champion Honorio Banario via technical knockout in the first round in January 2019.
He is set to face former ONE featherweight champ Marat Gafurov on the undercard of ONE: Collision Course on December 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium—a fight that would keep Folayang glued to his TV.
"I think the mental aspect of this fight is something to watch out for," Folayang said.
"It's going to be about who can impose his game plan better. Whoever is stronger in the mind will win this fight." —MGP, GMA News
