Margielyn Didal nominated as 'Asia Skater of the Year' in Asia Skateboarding Awards

Professional skateboarder Margielyn Didal has been nominated for the title of "Asia Skater of the Year" in the Asia Skateboarding Awards 2020.

The Olympic hopeful, who is also a Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games gold medalist, took to social media to announce the good news.

Sharing a photo of her nomination on Instagram, Tuesday, she wrote, "Thank you all. Let's go and let's get it."

With her nomination, Didal is in the running to get over USD 1,500 or Php 72,000 should she take home the award.

Named as TIME Magazine's 25 most influential teens back in 2018, Didal is poised to represent the country during the Tokyo 2020 Games where skateboarding will make its Olympic debut.

Aside from the "Asia Skater of the Year" award, the Asia Skateboarding Awards 2020 is also set to name "Asia Rookie of the Year," Trick of the Year," and "Hidden Gem" among many other titles. —Kaela Malig/JCB, GMA News
