Dustin Poirier knocks out Conor McGregor in 2 at UFC 257

Dustin Poirier has evened the score with Conor McGregor following a second-round stoppage in their rematch in the main event of UFC 257 at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

It was McGregor who attacked early and landed several punches on top. Almost a minute into the round, Poirier went for a takedown and momentarily pinned the Irish to the side of the cage.

McGregor was able to reverse their position then unleashed his trademark shoulder strikes on Poirier as they exchanged strikes until the end of round one.

Both fighters started to throw more kicks in round two but it was Poirier's leg kicks that paid dividends as McGregor was visually hurt from the shots he took.

A big left hand stunned McGregor to which Poirier followed up with a series of unanswered punches prompted the referee to halt the contest at the 2:32 mark of round two.

It was a huge win for the ex-UFC interim lightweight champ, improving his record to 27-6 while the former two-division UFC champion McGregor tasted his first loss via stoppage as he fell to 22-5.
