Eduard Folayang battles Japanese legend Yoshihiro Akiyama at ONE on TNT

Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang of Team Lakay is slated to face yet another decorated foe when he takes on Japanese legend Yoshihiro Akiyama at ONE on TNT on April 29.

Akiyama, a judo black belt and a former UFC fighter, holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 15-7. He last fought in February 2020 when he defeated Sherif Mohamed via first-round knockout.

“This will be a great fight for me, I’m inspired by the victories of my teammates and I’m sure 2021 will be a good year for Team Lakay,” said Folayang.

The 37-year-old from Baguio City is touted as the face of Philippine mixed martial arts. Holding a record of 22-10, Folayang is coming off back-to-back defeats and is looking to bounce back in a big way against Akiyama. – RC, GMA News
