Eugene Torre inducted to World Chess Hall of Fame


Asia's first chess grandmaster (GM) is now also Asia's first male world chess hall of famer.

Filipino Eugene Torre, according to reports, has been inducted in the World Chess Hall of Fame, alongside Argentine GM Miguel Najdorf and GM Judit Polgar of Hungary.

Torre will now join the list of other world hall of famers such as Alexander Alekhine, Bobby Fischer, and Asia's first woman world champion, Xie Jun.

The Philippine Olympic Committee and the Games and Amusements Board, through their social media accounts, applauded Torre's achievement.
