John Vic De Guzman, Teng, Gumabao among DLSU alumni's sports awardees


The De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) on Thursday named John Vic De Guzman, Jeron Teng, Michele Gumabao, among its 20 sports achievement awardees.

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's (CSB) De Guzman, was part of the historic silver medal of the Philippine national men's volleyball team in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. He also led the CSB Blazers to a men's volleyball title in Season 92 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Teng, meanwhile, was part of De La Salle University's (DLSU) title runs in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2013 and 2016. His Alaska teammate and fellow Green Archer Jvee Casio will also be bestowed with the same distinction.

Michele Gumabao, a member of DLSU's volleyball team, was also a part of the Taft-based squad's titles from 2011-2013. Her fellow Lady Spikers Jacqueline Alarca, Stephanie Mercado, and Melissa Gohing will also be awarded with the same recognition.

Other awardees include George Barcelon, Lauro Crisostomo, Iggy Escaño, Badette Galas, Francis Michael Gesmundo, Arvin Herrera, Walden Ledesma, Anfernee Lopena, Juan Diego Lozano, Reylani Manabat, Luis Gabriel Moreno, Jose Antonio Muñoz, and Jon David Samson.

DLSAA will also induct Renren Ritualo and seven others into its Sports Hall of Fame. —Justin Kenneth Carandag/JMB, GMA News
