Chris Weidman gets six-month medical suspension with broken leg
Former UFC middleweight world champion Chris Weidman is facing a six-month medical suspension following his freak injury against Uriah Hall at UFC 261 this past April according to mixedmartialarts.com.
Weidman, 36, broke his right leg after his kick landed on the side of Hall’s knee. The ex-champ immediately went down in pain and received a technical knockout loss on his record 17 seconds into the first round.
Even though he went through a successful surgery after the fight, it would likely take more than six months to fully recover from the injury.
Fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal, meanwhile, received a 60-day suspension from the Florida Athletic Commission after he suffered a brutal second-round knockout at the hands of UFC middleweight world champion Kamaru Usman.
Former UFC women’s strawweight world champion Zhang Weili also got a 60-day suspension for losing via first-round knockout against Rose Namajunas. —JM Siasat/JMB, GMA News
