Alex Eala, Andorran partner exit early in Spain pro tilt

Alex Eala suffered an early quarterfinals exit in the women's doubles W25 Madrid tournament on Wednesday.

The Filipina teen tennis ace and partner Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra fell short to America's Ashley Lahey and Australia's Olivia Tjandramulia, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6.

The tournament marked Eala's return to the pro circuit just days after she copped her second Grand Slam crown in 2021 French Open Juniors doubles with Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva.

Eala, the juniors no. 3, and Kasintseva, the juniors no. 1, looked like they could seal the match after tying it at one set apiece.

The Filipina-Andorran tandem also led early in the deciding set at 4-3, however, the opposing side launched a huge 7-2 run to finish the heated game.

The defeat came just hours after Eala bowed out of the singles draw with a three-set loss against home bet Andrea Lazaro Garcia, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
