Hidilyn Diaz thanks Olympics head Bach in encounter; PH athletes continue training


Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz said she personally thanked International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach in one of their encounters on Thursday in Japan.

Diaz shared her encounter with Bach in an Instagram post.

"I just said thank you to him for making the @tokyo2020 Olympics happen during this time. I just want to say I admire you as a sports leader, thank you for standing and not giving up on the Olympics," she wrote.

 

 

"Thank you for giving us this opportunity and chance to be here in Tokyo 2020."

Diaz will start competing on Monday.

Meanwhile, other athletes continue their training for their events, while still having fun.

Taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa also had his weigh-in on Friday and registered 57.5kg. He is set to compete on Saturday against Korea's Jang Jun.

Skateboard bet Margielyn Didal on Thursday also started training for their event which will start Monday.

 

 

The Tokyo Olympics will officially open on Friday night.
