With outpour of incentives and bonuses, PH's four Tokyo medalists to tap financial advisers
Filipino athletes who copped a medal in the recently-concluded Tokyo Olympics are all looking to tap financial advisers amidst the influx of incentives and bonuses coming their way.
Gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz is tipped to receive at least P33 million cash reward on top of other bonuses like house and lot and condominium units and she shared that at least two advisers have offered their services to her.
Diaz emphasized the importance of having these experts around her as she will still be focusing on training for upcoming competitions like the Vietnam SEA Games and World Championships.
"To be honest, I have two or three financial advisers and I have to admit that I will not be an athlete forever," Diaz said in Filipino on Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday.
"And I have to admit that I will focus on being an athlete and that I am not that good in managing financial matters so I really need the advice of these financial advisers."
Likewise, boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, who both won silvers, and Eumir Marcial, who took home a bronze, will also be provided financial advisers courtesy of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP).
"Yes, it was already planned and we are just waiting. Sir Ricky Vargas and Sir Ed Picson told us about that when we were still in Japan."
Petecio and Paalam are both expected to receive at least P17 million in cash rewards, free flights, and house and lot units among others while Marcial is set to get at least P7 million.
