CCE to launch local Mobile Legends collegiate league

A new institution is looking to establish a collegiate esports league set to launch in October.

The Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) is looking to hold a five-on-five Mobile Legends Bang Bang Varsity Cup in a few months’ time, aimed at giving another platform for esports athletes to compete in, this time on a collegiate level.

“The esports scene, especially ML, has grown bigger and bigger in the Philippines and Asia over the years, paving the way for us in creating an organized league in the collegiate ranks. That’s basically the origin of CCE. Our goal is for this dream to be nationwide down the road,” CCE head organizer Ssein Meneses said.

Before they launch their league, though, they are organizing a series of 1-on-1 exhibition matches starting this weekend, August 14, featuring basketball players, such as NCAA Season 95 Finals MVP Fran Yu.

Other varsity basketball athletes such as Mapua’s Warren Bonifacio and University of Perpetual Help’s Jasper Cuevas are set to participate with representatives from San Beda, San Sebastian, Lyceum, JRU, EAC, Arellano University and College of Saint Benilde also in the mix.

CALM Network will serve as the tournament’s official broadcaster.

Filipino teams have won several international titles in Mobile Legends, such as the M2 World Championships, the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup, and the Southeast Asian Games.
