Kelra issues public apology for homophobic comments toward OhMyV33nus, Wise

Omega Esports player Grant Duane "Kelra" Pillas on Sunday issued an apology following his insensitive remarks referring to Blacklist International's Jhonmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna and Danerie "Wise" Rosario.

This, after a clip from a streamed game where the 16-year-old Mobile Legends pro Kelra made a homophobic statement about the V33Wise duo surfaced on Sunday afternoon.

"Taos puso po akong humihingi ng tawad at pasensya sa lahat ng taong naapektuhan at nasaktan sa aking mga nasabi," Kelra wrote on his page.

[I sincerely ask for forgiveness to those who were affected and hurt by what I said.]

[I admit that I was wrong and did not think of the consequences, I was immature and irresponsible.]

Kelra also apologized specifically to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community for what he said.

[I do not deny the issue. I admit that I did not think whethere there will be people who will be hurt with my words. I apologize to those hurt, especially the LGBTQ+ community and those affected.]

Kelra said he has also approached OhMyV33nus and Wise to apologize.

[I am sorry for my disrespectful and very inappropriate joke. This will not happen again.]

[I promise I will be a better person and be a role model, as a professional player, because of this issue.]

Omega Esports on Monday said they were 'saddened and disappointed' with Kelra's behavior.

"An internal investigation has begun to address the matter. We are also coordinating with MPL regarding this issue. Rest assured we are taking steps to ensure respect and professionalism above all among all our players," the team said.

MPL Philippines on Monday handed out a two-week suspension and slapped an unspecified amount of fine to Kelra following his unprofessional behavior.
