Rio Paralympics medalist Josephine Medina passes away

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) on Thursday announced the passing of Paralympics bronze medalist Josephine Medina.

Medina, 51, broke the Philippines' 16-year Paralympics medal drought when she competed in the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

She was a gold medalist in the 2008 and 2017 ASEAN Para Games, and won silver in the 2010 and 2018 Asian Para Games. She also claimed bronze in the 2014 Asian Para Games.

Neither of the two organizations revealed the cause of Medina's death.

"You will be missed by your table tennis family," the PTTF said in its Facebook post.
