Sofia Frank skates to 22nd place in short program of Nebelhorn Trophy


Sofia Frank finished at 22nd place in the women's figure skating short program in the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy on Friday in Oberstdorf, Germany.

The 15-year old skater scored 47.65 points, with 25.42 points in the technical element score and 22.23 in the program components.

Performing to "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, Frank showed her grace on ice with a triple lutz-double toe loop, a triple loop, and a double axel to end the program. However, she did not land the double axel well.

Alysia Liu of the United States finished first with 70.86 points, Switzerland's Alexia Paganini placed second with 65.65 points, while Belarus' Viktoriia Safonova settled for third with 62.02.

Australia's Kailani Craine, Ukraine's Anastasiia Shabatova, and Poland's Ekaterina Kurakova entered the Top 6.

The women's free skate will be on Saturday afternoon.

Six spots for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are up for grabs in the women's side of the competition.

On Thursday, Edrian Paul Celestino finished 16th in the short program of the men's side. —JCB, GMA News
