Sofia Frank breaks national record, finishes 18th overall in Finlandia Trophy

Figure skater Sofia Frank broke the national record for women's figure skating as she now holds the highest scores for short program, free skate, and total scores.

Frank scored a total of 148.09 points in the 2021 Finlandia Trophy, with 94.79 in the free skate held on Sunday. The 16-year old skater scored 53.30 in the short program on Saturday.

This is also her new personal best, with her previous record set at 128.78 (total score), 47.65 (short program), and 81.13 (free skate), all from the Nebelhorn Trophy.

Based on results published in the International Skating Union's website, Frank outscored Allison Perticheto's personal bests of 139.70 points for the total score, 51.66 points for short program, and 93.20 for the free skate.

"This is only Sofia's second appearance in the international stage of figure skating, and the total scores are conquered by a significant 8.39 pts. Well done Sofia," PHSU said in its post on Sunday.

Frank finished 18th overall in the tournament. Russians Kamila Valieva (249.24), Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (233.30), and Alena Kostornaia (218.83) landed on the top three spots of the competition.
