Omega, Onic to clash early in 'Group of Death' after MPL Invitational 2021 Captain's Draft

Onic Philippines and Omega Esports will have an early clash in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational (MPLI) 2021 after landing in the "Group of Death" following the Captain's Draft on Sunday.

The two teams were picked by MPL Malaysia champion Team SMG for their bracket, along with MPL Indonesia Season 8 runner-up RRG Hoshi and MPL Indonesia Season 7 champion Evos ID.

Blacklist International, Philippines' back-to-back champion, selected MPL Cambodia champion See You Soon, MPL Malaysia Season 7 champion Todak, MPL Indonesia Season 7 runner-up Bigetron Alpha, and Indonesian team Geek Fam.

Meanwhile, RSG Philippines will have an early clash against RSG Singapore. They were picked by MPL Indonesia Season 8 champion Onic Esports for their bracket, along with Echo Philippines and Indonesia's Aura Fire.

Nexplay Evos, the last Philippine representative in the MPLI, will fight against Indonesia's Rebellion Genflix after getting selected by MPL Singapore champion Evos SG for their bracket. Joining them are Malaysia's Orange Esports and defending MPLI champions Alter Ego.

Blacklist, Team SMG, Onic Esports, and Evos SG are all waiting in the quarterfinals after ruling their respective MPL leagues.

Alter Ego dominated the 2020 staging of the tournament where they faced Philippines' Bren Esports in the finals.

MPLI 2021 will begin on Tuesday, November 2.
