EJ Obiena targets Paris 2024: 'I want it, that's why'

Filipino Olympian and pole vaulter EJ Obiena is setting his targets this early.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Obiena expressed his desire to book a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"So many whys…..But only one answer, I want it, that’s why," Obiena said. "999 days from @paris2024"

Obiena, after his failed bid for a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, then said he was thinking about his plans in the future.

After his Tokyo bid, Obiena continued breaking pole vault records, and eventually set the Asian record at 5.93 meters when he competed in the International Golden Roof Challenge in Austria .

His performance in Austria is also his personal best and the national record.
