Lyceum defeats Mapua to rule MLBB Varsity Cup

The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) reigned supreme in the first-ever Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Varsity Cup after overthrowing Mapua University, 4-2, in their best-of-seven grand finals on Saturday.

Yancy "Momopesky" Remulla received the MVP citations after he recorded 6 kills, 1 death, and 6 assists in six games.

"This is important because even though it's not in basketball, we were still able to bring honor to our school. That's why we're happy with this championship in esports," said Remulla in the post-game interview.

Remulla, whose team had a spotless run en route to the title, said he also credited all their opponents for coming out and joining the tournament.

"We all enjoyed the games and we bonded although it's not inside the [basketball] court."

The MLBB Varsity Cup serves as a follow-up event to the CCE 1v1 Exhibition Matches last month, which was ruled by Perpetual’s Jasper Cuevas.

It is also an introduction for the official College Center for Esports (CCE) calendar next year which will feature NCAA students.
