Blacklist International reinforced with foreign players? Alodia Gosiengfiao open to idea but cites challenges
SINGAPORE — It's no secret that Blacklist International has proven—and continues to prove—that it is among the most eminent Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams in the esports landscape.
With the team at its peak, is it open to tapping a foreign player to further boost its arsenal?
Blacklist co-owner and Tier One Entertainment co-founder Alodia Gosiengfiao said that the esports company is open to the idea but cited the communication difficulties that may arise once an import joins the team.
"For our Mobile Legends team, we haven't really pondered upon it yet because as of now, we also have teams in different games and we actually have it in different countries like Malaysia," Gosiengfiao said in a virtual press conference organized by Moonton on Thursday.
"We are open to that but I think it would be a bit challenging because our team normally speaks in Tagalog," she added.
Blacklist's MLBB team is bannered by full-blooded Filipino gamers.
Johnmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna, Danerie James "Wise" Del Rosario, Kiel Calvin "OHEB" Soriano, Edward Jay "EDWARD" Dapadap, Salic "Hadji" Imam, and Dexter Louise "DEX STAR" Alaba are tipped to represent the Philippines in the upcoming M3 World Championships.
Gosiengfiao said getting the services of an import is still far-fetched as of now, but the esports personality welcomes the idea.
"I think the communication would be a little difficult if we get people from different countries and they can't speak their local language," she said.
"But definitely, maybe in the future, if they can really mesh well or learn the language, that would be something to consider."
