Pinoy obstacle course racer among Top 20 elite finishers in 2021 World Spartan Championship

A Filipino obstacle course racer made it to the Top 20 elite finishers in the 2021 World Spartan Championship held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Elias Tabac, who hails from Agusan del Sur, finished 19th in the competition with a time of two hours and 50 minutes.

He shared the results on his Instagram account and said he is the first Asian who finished on the Top 20 in the Spartan world championship.

"I want to thank the Lord for the strength he gave me to finish this race strong and injury free," Tabac said.

The race was held just months after Tabac's gold medal conquest in the 2021 World's Highest Obstacle Course Race back in September.

According to Chino Trinidad's report on "24 Oras," part of the obstacle course was reaching the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which stands at 19,000 feet, in Tanzania.

"Marami ring nagdarasal sa akin. Tapos 'yung dasal ko, Panginoon talaga ang [nagpalakas] sa akin," Tabac said when asked how he survived the climb.

["Many are praying for me. And my prayer as well is for God to give me strength."]

"Kahit ayaw mo na, lumalaban pa rin. Tinitingnan ko, kailangan ko pa mabuhay kasi may pamilyang naghihintay sa akin," he added.

["Even if I am close to giving up, I still fight. I always remember that I need to live for my family."]
