Teamwork, synergy the keys to M3 playoffs upset vs Blacklist, says BTK's MobaZane
SINGAPORE—The odds were against the North American team BloodThirstyKings (BTK) in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship here.
BTK entered the prestigious tournament without the impressive credentials like those of other teams, such as the Philippines' Blacklist International, whose players have been together for quite some time now and who have been playing together both locally and internationally.
The Americans also came into the competition with exactly five players — compared to a Blacklist side that boasted a complete team including a coach, a team manager, and substitute players.
But BTK's Michael "MobaZane" Cosgun said they turned these disadvantages into positives, which sparked their upset of the favored Filipinos during their upper bracket playoff meeting on Saturday.
"The emotion is just so high in the tournament and we are happy. With no coach or analyst either, we were able to break the code, I guess," said MobaZane.
"Just the teamwork and synergy. We've had this roster and we've been playing together for two years now and the main roster doesn't really change. It's just synergy that none of these teams here can really match, in my opinion."
MobaZane even added that they were only able to come up with a game plan against Blacklist just two days ago as Group C had only wrapped up last Wednesday.
"I'm able to really notice what made Blacklist tick and I tried my best a few days ago, we came up with a strategy to beat them just a few days ago and we're actually able to pull it off."
And now that they've been able to prove they can take down any team, they have bigger plans for coming up for the rest of the tournament.
"We plan to take this whole championship home for North America."
