SINGAPORE—Blacklist International's Edward Jay "Edward" Dapadap caught the attention of many after sporting a different look for his team's lower bracket playoff game against Indonesia's Onic Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship.

The 17-year-old pro gamer, usually wearing his hair down over his eyeglasses, instead had on a yellow bandana that held his hair up for the duration of the intense best-of-three series, which Blacklist won, 2-1.

When asked about this change, coach Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza joked that the look was part of Edward's transformation into a more powerful version of himself.

"During the group stage, Edward's hair was down so that's just a normal Saiyan. So here in the playoffs in the lower bracket, we all know that when it's already a Super Saiyan, the hair goes up. So he also had his hair brushed up," BON CHAN said in a reference to the Dragon Ball franchise.

"And we saw that in his performance. He really transformed into Super Saiyan."

True enough, Edward proved pivotal in the match as he registered a 2-3-5 KDA in Game 1 while helping Blacklist during the tight Game 3 with a 1 kill and four assists against just one death.

Blacklist will next face Keyd Stars, who earlier swept Bedel to punch its ticket to the next round.
