Stephen Loman, Jhanlo Sangiao, make impressive ONE debuts at Winter Warriors II
Former Brave CF bantamweight champion Stephen Loman and Jhanlo Sangiao made impressive promotional debuts at ONE: Winter Warriors II at the Singapore Indoor Stadium which aired via taped telecast this Friday evening.
Loman, 29, is coming off a two-year layoff but looked as sharp as ever against the No. 3 rated bantamweight Yusup Saadulaev. The ex-champ from Baguio City kept the fight on the feet landing kicks and punches before eventually catching the Russian with an overhand left.
The punch sent Saadulaev crashing to the canvas where Loman followed up with hammer fists that prompted the referee to halt the contest at the 4:09 mark of round one. The win improved Loman’s professional mixed martial arts record to 14-2 while Saadulaev fell to 20-6-1.
Jhanlo Sangiao, meanwhile, lived up to his surname following a first-round submission over Paulus Lumihi.
After a few exchanges of strikes, Jhanlo — the son of Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao — went for the takedown, took Lumihi’s back then locked in a rear-naked choke that made the Indonesian tap at the 1:41 mark of round one. The win improved his unblemished record to 4-0 while Lumihi dropped to 7-6.
