PH national esports team Sibol opens tryouts for Vietnam SEA Games


Philippine national esports team Sibol is now accepting applicants who wish to represent the country in the upcoming Vietnam Southeast Asian (SEA) Games slated in May 2022 in Hanoi.

In a Facebook post, Sibol announced that registrations is now open for four teams: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (gender-neutral), Crossfire (gender-neutral), and men's and women's teams for Wild Rift.

Teams can register from December 30, 2021 until January 8, 2022. Only participants who are 18 years old and above or turning 18 years old by May 11, 2022 are allowed to join the tryouts.

Ten medals will be up for grabs in the upcoming Vietnam Games, including PC games in League of Legends, FIFA 4, and Crossfire.

Mobile games, meanwhile, include League of Legends: Wild Rift (men's and women's division), Arena of Valor, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (individual and team), Garena Free Fire, and ML:BB.

Esports made its maiden appearance in the biennial meet during the country's hosting of the 2019 edition, where the Philippines copped a total of five medals, including gold medals in ML:BB, DOTA 2, and Starcraft II as well as silver and bronze medals in Tekken 7.
