Genshin Impact, Valorant among PH's most tweeted about in banner year for gaming on Twitter

The year 2021 was a record-breaking year for gaming on Twitter!

According to Twitter, there was a 14% increase on tweets year over year, with 2021 garnering 2.4 billion tweets about gaming.

Twitter said the conversations about gaming on its platform is a reflection of the increasing interest in gaming and esports from the public.

“As we continue adjusting to life in the middle of a pandemic, people are finding new ways to make connections with various communities, and one of them is through gaming. The growing conversations that happened around gaming on Twitter reflect the increasing attention from the public on Twitter about various games, esports teams, and gaming personalities," said Maurizio Barbieri, Head of Sports & Gaming Partnerships for SEA and Greater China at Twitter.

The Philippines placed sixth among the top ten countries tweeting about gaming, with Japan, United States, South Korea, Thailand, and Brazil making it to the first five. Indonesia, United Kingdom, France, and India complete the top ten.

In the Philippines, Genshin Impact was the most tweeted about game, followed by Valorant, League of Legends, and Minecraft.

The top five most tweeted about esports teams were Team Secret, OG Esports, T1 Esports, Sentinels, and G2 Esports.
