Former ONE heavyweight world champion Brandon Vera is raring to strut his wares again inside the ONE Championship cage.

Vera, who holds an MMA record of 16-9, is coming off a second-round technical knockout loss to Arjan Singh Bhullar last April at ONE: DANGAL where he lost his then gold-plated strap.

Eager to prove that he remains competitive even at 44 years old, Vera says he is looking to make his return to the bright lights later this year.

“It's really an exciting time to be part of ONE Championship and I promise that I will be back in the ONE Circle soon,” said Vera.

“I can imagine that being in the third or fourth quarter of this year, but you bet, I am looking forward to ramping up my training again.”

ONE Championship signed promising heavyweights to its roster during Vera’s time off including one of the greatest jiu-jitsu practitioners of all time Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida.

The thought of competing in a more stacked division excites the Filipino-American, and he plans to beat anyone standing in his path to regain the world title.

“I’m very proud, personally, to be a heavyweight representative of ONE Championship. The talent pool just keeps on growing here at ONE,” Vera stated.

“As for me, I will be back and I can’t think of doing anything else other than reclaiming what is rightfully mine.”
