RSG asserts mastery over Onic, reaches Top 3 of MPL PH S9

RSG Philippines lived up to their regular season seeding as they dominated Onic Philippines, 3-0, to arrange an upper bracket finals date with TNC Pro Team in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 playoffs on Friday.

After dominating the first two games of the series, Light played like an immortal in the decider where he evaded two crucial pick offs that prevented Onic from mounting a comeback and displayed god-like set-ups to help RSG score the sweep.

RSG opened the series with a quick 4-0 lead on the kill tally by the 3rd minute of Game 1 that they easily extended into a 10-4 spread in the 8th minute.

They never looked from there as they leaned on Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto's (Karina) prowess to complete a dominating 20-7 kill tally by the 17th minute, 1-0. Demonkite finished with a perfect 6-0-9 KDA.

The Kingslayers continued with their fine play in Game 2, taking a 3-0 4th minute kill spread that ballooned into a 10-4 spread by the 12th minute.

But Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Ling) activated his clutch genes entering the late game with a 13th minute luminous lord steal followed by a superb zone play in the 15th minute from Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy (Natalia) to pick off Eman “EMANN” Sangco (Beatrix) and Demonkite (Barats).

But even with the huge net worth turnaround from Onic who erased a 3k gold deficit and established with a 3k gold lead of their own, RSG remained composed and executed an all-important pick off on Baloskie in the 19th minute that initiated a 4-2 takedown giving them a 2-0 series lead.

It looked like Onic was ready to rise from the ashes, dictating control of Game 3 taking the 9th minute and 12th minute lords.

But Arvie “Aquaaa” Calderon (Cecillon) geniusly placed a Sanguine Claws crowd control on Mark Christian “Markyyyyy” Capacio (Natan) followed by a pinpoint fatal links from MPL Regular Season MVP Dylan “Light” Catipon (Light) that sparked a 2-0 pick off and the 16th minute luminous lord.

Light then executed another perfect fatal links on Baloyskie (Franco) and Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales (Grock) in the dying moments to shatter Onic's final defensive stand and complete the sweep.

Onic will battle for dear life against Omega Esports tomorrow.
