Joshua Pacio's title fight removed from ONE 158
ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio's highly-anticipated showdown against ex-UFC fighter Jarred Brooks has been called off for unknown reasons.
Pacio, 20-3 as a professional mixed martial arts fighter, was originally scheduled to defend his gold-plated strap against Brooks in the main event of ONE 158 on June 3 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium until it was scratched by the promotion.
"I do not know what happened to my opponent. I am OK and I do not know why [the fight was cancelled]. I was told that it would be rescheduled but there is no exact date yet," Pacio told GMA News Online.
The 29-year-old Brooks, who holds a mixed martial arts record of 19-2, earned a shot at the Team Lakay representative when he defeated the then number one contender Bokang Masunyane by way of first-round submission at ONE 156 last April.
Pacio, meanwhile, last saw action inside the cage when he defeated Yosuke Saruta in their grudge match via first-round technical knockout.
ONE Championship is yet to release a statement surrounding the cancellation of Pacio's fight with Brooks.
With Pacio and Brooks out of the picture, a featherweight Muay Thai match between Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Niclas Larsen will take place in the main event.
