Omega holds Indonesian champs to a draw, secures MSC playoff spot

Omega Esports engaged Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi in a final group stage dogfight splitting the series, 1-1, to settle for second in Group C heading into the playoffs of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 on Sunday.

It looked like RRQ was on the way for a group stage sweep when they delivered a dominating performance in the opener only for Omega to deal them a reality check with an almost perfect Game 2 execution.

In Game 1, Calvin “VYN” (Franco) connected on his Iron Hooks early on to help RRQ win the early game skirmishes and take a 6-2 kill lead by the 6th minute.

The lead ballooned even further after the Indonesians took a 4-0 wipe in an 8th minute turtle fight to secure the first lord of the match.

It was all RRQ the rest of the way as they cruised to an easy 17-minute conquest to pull ahead, 1-0 and secure top seeding in Group C heading into the playoffs.

Contrary to the opener, it was Omega who played with finesse in Game 2 as they opted for an objective-centric gameplay to counter RRQ's aggression.

They quickly took the lead after scoring a 2-0 takedown during a 2nd minute turtle fight then secured all the turtle buffs and lord spawns from there to completely shutdown RRQ.

Christian “Raizen” Sumagui (Karina) led the way with a perfect 6-0-3 KDA while Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog played superbly in his signature Khufra, featuring a game-winning set in the 15th minute that sparked a 4-0 wipe to score the equalizer. He finished with a 0-0-7 KDA.

The playoffs will commence on June 14, 2022. Omega qualified for the playoffs alongside compatriots RSG Philippines.
