RSG Philippines books MSC 2022 grand finals ticket at the expense of Omega Esports

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — RSG Philippines was made to sweat in a dragging series against Omega Esports before escaping with a 3-2 win and book the last grand finals ticket at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 on Saturday.

RSG will contest the 2022 title against Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi. The Philippine champions eliminated an Omega squad whose core players took the MSC 2021 crown under the Execration banner.

RSG opened the series with guns blazing in Game 1, conceding their first death only at the 17th minute when they had already taken down all inhibitor turrets.

But Omega reminded everyone again why they're tagged as the MPL comeback kings with a classic rally deep in the late game, fending off RSG's base turret sieges and slowly taking down turrets on their own.

Renz "Renzio" Cadua once again delivered a monster performance on his signature Masha as he bursted down Eman "EMANN" Sangco (Claude) from the backline in the 28th minute that kickstarted a 4-0 to complete the comeback, 1-0.

In Game 2, both teams traded objectives and pickoffs from the early goings but Omega shattered the balance when they scored a 4-2 exchange in a top lane skirmish in the 13th minute.

But it was RSG's time for a reversal as the MPL PH Season 9 champions scored their own 4-2 exchange in a 16th minute lord fight.

It was Dylan "Light" Catipon's (Franco) time to shine this time as his prowess came in full display, catching Omega heroes with Iron Hooks in decisives pickoffs in the late game to equalize, 1-1. 

It was another nip-and-tuck affair in Game 3 with RSG clutching their way via a crucial 3-2 exchange during a 19th minute lord fight to go up, 2-1.

The trend continued in Game 4 as both teams engaged in a see-saw battle until Omega took a decisive 11th minute lord to establish a 5k gold lead.

Despite RSG's comeback efforts in the late game, Omega played a calculated macro with Christian "Raizen" Sumagui (Fanny) leading the way via a perfect 3-0-2 KDA in a 22-minute conquest.

In the decider, RSG took a quick 3-0 2nd minute kill lead and maintained control all throughout, not letting Omega get into their damage spikes courtesy of Light's (Chou) set-up plays.

RSG took the series with a 5-1 wipeout in the 17th minute led by Arvie "Aqua" Antonio's (Yve) 7-0-7 KDA.
