Omega survives new-look Echo with 2-1 reverse sweep
Omega Esports banked on a momentum-swinging Game 2 finish to complete a 2-1 reverse sweep of Echo in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 10 on Saturday.
Echo provided the early surprise with Coach Harold Francis "Tictac" Reyes opting to unveil a new line-up to battle Omega.
That move successfully translated into an opening win with returning Jaypee "Jaypee" Dela Cruz (Natalia) piloting Echo in the early game to secure objectives and pickoffs en route to a 1-0-2 KDA by the 5th minute.
Both teams veered away from skirmishes from there with no kills registered until Echo scored a 4-0 wipe in the 14th minute to pull ahead, 1-0.
Frediemar "3MarTzy" Serafico (Uranus) highlighted Echo's victory with daredevil initiations within Omega territory and finished with a 3-0-2 KDA to take match MVP.
Game 2 boiled down to a 22nd minute team fight that started with Dean Christian "Raizen" Sumagui (Thamuz) securing the luminous lord but Echo responded with 4-0 takedown led by 3mar's (Paquito) double kill.
In a superb mechanical display though, Renz "Renzio" Cadua (Uranus) almost single-handedly defended their base turret against five Echo invaders, accurately positioning himself to deny Echo's one way push leading four orcas losing their lives.
3mar had moments of his own in fending off the base turret push but Renzio's sacrifice proved enough for Omega to score the equalizer.
Renzio finished with a 4-1-5 KDA, taking his only death at the final moments of the match.
In Game 3, Raizen (Baxia) took over and flexed his might in securing all turtles and a lord by the 11th minute, complemented by a 5-0-3 KDA.
It was all Omega the rest of the way as they fully negated Jaypee (Natalia) to complete the reverse sweep.
