Baloyskie, Dlar capture wins; Kairi, Markyyyy suffer losses in MPL Indonesia
Filipino imports had mixed results in Week 2 of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Indonesia.
Gerald "Dlar" Trinchera finally made his MPL ID debut as he helped EVOS Legends get back on the winning track with a 2-0 sweep of Geek Fam, featuring two Filipinos in their line-up.
He has yet to register a death in the league as he compiled a 6-0-11 in the wire-to-wire win against Geek Fam.
Allen "Baloyskie" and Jaymark "Janaaqt" Lazaro, who were on the losing end of a lopsided loss to Dlar's EVOS Legends, finally scored a breakthrough win against cellar-dwelling Rebellion Genflix, snapping Geek Fam's 17-game losing streak dating back from MPL ID Season 8.
Janaaqt (Julian) had a monster Game 1 performance, where he took MVP Honors courtesy of an immaculate 7-0-5 KDA.
It was Baloyskie's time to shine in Game 2 as the former Onic PH roamer compiled a stellar 1-1-9 KDA on his signature Grock pick.
Meanwhile, Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol helped Onic Esports survive Aura Fire with a 2-1 victory for their second win of the season.
Against defending champion RRQ Hoshi, however, the jungler failed to score any kill as he visibly struggled against the King of Kings.
Onic actually won the opener with a dominant 7-1 kill tally but Kairi compiled a paltry 0-6-7 KDA the rest of the way, leading to a 2-1 reverse sweep.
Filipino Coach Vrendon "Vren" Lin had his first taste of MPL ID action with Bigetron Alpha against powerhouse RRQ Hoshi, but suffered from a 2-1 loss after a lopsided rubber match.
BTR showed nerves of steel in Game 2, as they came back from a mid-game deficit and punished RRQ's late game miscues to score the equalizer after a grueling 30-minute encounter.
Marky "Markyyyyy" Capacio (Wanwan) also had an impressive debut as he recovered from a 0-2-2 early game KDA to finish with 2-2-9 KDA.
But the King of Kings proved too much for Coach V and Markyyyyy with the defending champions flexing their might in Game 3, posting a 21-1 kill rampage in a 14-minute conquest.
