Ex-UFC champ Luke Rockhold retires from mixed martial arts

Former Strikeforce and UFC middleweight world champion Luke Rockhold has retired from mixed martial arts.

Rockhold, 37, suffered his third consecutive defeat against Paulo Costa in the co-main event of UFC 278 this past weekend. He walked away from the sport with a record of 16-6.

“I have been through so much last year. Fighting, I cannot do this anymore. I gave it my all. I am just f—ng old,” Rockhold said after the fight.

MMA Fighting reported that Rockhold has officially notified the UFC of his retirement.
