Alex Eala advances to US Open girls quarterfinals

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open girls singles tournament on Wednesday (US Eastern time) in New York.

Eala defeated Australian Taylah Preston, 6-2, 7(7)-6(1) in the third round of the tournament.

In the quarters, the 17-year old Filipina will face doubles partner Mirra Andreeva of Russia.

Meanwhile in the junior doubles, Eala and partner Andreeva will proceed to the second round after beating American duo Iva Jovic and Shannon Lam, 6-2, 6-2.

Eala and Andreeva will face Germans Carolina Kuhl and Ella Seidel in the Round of 16.

Eala's matches will be played on Thursday (US Eastern time). — LA, GMA News
