EJ Obiena says he wants to finish engineering degree in UST

World no. 3 EJ Obiena is focusing on his pole vault career at the moment, but the Filipino Olympian has another goal in his mind: finishing his education.

According to Cedric Castillo's report for "24 Oras," Obiena is currently on leave from University of Santo Tomas, where he is studying electronics engineering.

UST recently held a victory homecoming for the track and field star, who was all smiles as he once again stepped foot on the campus.

"I would really wanna finish and I would wanna graduate in UST," Obiena said.

The 26-year-old pole vaulter recently came home to the Philippines for a short vacation.

He also visited his high school alma mater Chiang Kai Shek College, where he spent 10 years studying and training.

"This place has guided to who I am now, and I never expected the school to go out of their way and actually help because I always knew Chiang Kai Shek is a basketball school," he said.

Obiena is flying back to Europe next week to begin his preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
