Fast recovering Lito Adiwang targets cage return in January
Hard-hitting mixed martial arts strawweight Lito Adiwang is on his way to full recovery almost seven months after he injured his ACL during a fight.
The 29-year-old Adiwang last saw action when he lost to his fellow Filipino Jeremy Miado last March at ONE X.
The Team Lakay representative was winning the bout until he tore his right ACL in round two which resulted in an anticlimactic ending to the contest via technical knockout.
“A little more push and I will be back. I am already strengthening and reflex movement. My doctor was surprised because my recovery is fast,” Adiwang told GMA News Online.
Adiwang underwent a successful surgery since that fateful night and is often seen nowadays sweating it out doing runs and various workouts.
According to Adiwang, his faster-than-anticipated recovery is an indicator that he would be back inside the cage sooner than expected.
“I am in the last four weeks of my rehabilitation. The target is to fight again in January,” Adiwang quipped.
