Carlos Yulo takes silver in vault event of gymnastics world championships

Carlos Yulo fell just short of retaining his world title after settling for a silver medal in the men's vault finals of the 2022 World Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, United Kingdom on Sunday night.

Yulo held on for the top spot after finishing with 14.950, but dropped to second place late after Artur Davtyan of Armenia garnered an impressive 15.050  to formally take home the gold.

Igor Radivilov copped the bronze medal with 14.733.

With the second place finish, the Filipino gymnast failed to retain his world title in the vault event after ruling the 2021 edition.

Yulo will still compete in the parallel bars later tonight in bid to land on the podium.
