Jon Jones to face Ciryl Gane for UFC heavyweight title at UFC 285
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will end his three-year hiatus to make his heavyweight debut and fight Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight world title in the main event of UFC 285 on March 4.
Jones’ cage return was announced by UFC President Dana White himself earlier today at the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference. One of the greatest to step foot in the octagon, Jones last saw action in February 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision.
“Jon Jones is literally ready to fight anybody, he did not care who it was,” White said.
The fight announcement also came with the news that Francis Ngannou has parted ways with the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization. Ngannou, 36, was stripped of the UFC heavyweight title and released from the organization after turning down a deal according to White.
