Jhanlo Sangiao and Denice Zamboanga return to action at ONE Fight Night 9
The Philippines will have two representatives in the upcoming ONE Fight Night 9 card as Jhanlo Sangiao of Team Lakay and Denice Zamboanga are scheduled to return to action on April 22 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Sangiao, a bantamweight mixed martial arts prospect with a professional record of 5-0 and the son of Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao, is slated to face Argentina’s Matias Farinelli (5-0) in a three five-minute round fight.
Sangiao was supposed to face Farinelli last December but the latter withdrew from the fight after testing positive for COVID-19. With Farinelli out, Sangiao took on a late replacement in Anacleto Lauron, who he defeated by submission in round 1 that got him a $50,000 performance bonus.
Zamboanga, meanwhile, is the no. 3 ranked ONE women’s atomweight in the world. She is coming off a split decision nod over Lin Heqin and wanted to face another ranked fighter Stamp Fairtex but will face Julie Mezabarba instead.
The event will be headlined by ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama defending his gold-plated strap against Jonathan Haggerty.
