Trixie Lofranco picked up the gold medal in the women’s individual anyo non-traditional open weapon category of the arnis competitions in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games to help the Philippines top their total of 52 gold medals in the previous edition of the event held in Vietnam.
Lofranco’s win was the country’s fifth in this year’s arnis competitions, following previous gold medal performances from compatriots Dexler Bolambao (men’s full contact live stick bantamweight), Maria Ella Alcoseba (women’s full contact live stick bantamweight), Charlotte Tolentino (women’s full contact padded stick bantamweight), and Jedah Mae Soriano (women’s full contact padded stick lightweight).
It was also the 53rd gold medal of the Philippines in the Cambodia SEA Games, following the gold won by wrestler Alvin Lobreguito earlier on Tuesday.
In Vietnam, the country tallied a total of 52 golds, 70 silvers, and 104 bronzes.
