Echo scorches Burn x Flash in thriller to finish third in MSC

PHNOM PENH — Echo Philippines captured third place after eking out a 3-2 victory against Burn x Flash of host Cambodia in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup on Saturday at the Aeon Mall Mean Chey.

Echo earlier fell prey to Onic Esports of Indonesia in a sweep fashion during their semifinals series. Burn x Flash, meanwhile, lost to Blacklist International in the semis before this defeat to Echo to end their campaign at fourth spot.

With the series tied 1-1, Echo had multiple chances of ending Game 3 through the Orcas’ famous backdoor plays but Burn x Flash unleashed strong defense plays of their own to counter Echo’s last attempt.

And with the lord marching to Echo’s base, the Cambodians took advantage of the fact that four of five Orcas were slain to finish the game off and take a 2-1 lead.

Roamer D7 was hailed the MVP of that match as he unleashed a 0/2/12 KDA on Estes.

But the Orcas regained their form in Game 4 with team captain Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s masterful use of Khufra leading the way with 10 assists and one kill as they brought the series down to Game 5.

It then snowballed for Echo in the winner-take-all Game 5 with midlaner Alston “Sanji” Pabico unleashing five kills early with Pharsa for a 9-3 spread en route to the series victory.
